Abstract

The aim of the study is to determine the effectiveness of group counseling services with reinforcement techniques to increase student  motivation  in  class IX  A  SMP Negeri  14  Yogyakarta  in  the 2021/2022 academic year. The type of research used is a quantitative experiment, with a pre- experimental design method, a one-group pretest-posttest design model. The population in this study were students of class IX A SMP Negeri 14 Yogyakarta in the academic year 2021/2022, totaling 33 students. The samples taken in this study were 6 students through the purposive sampling technique. (The) Methods of data collection using a questionnaire. The data analysis technique in this study used the t-test. The results obtained: the average student learning motivation before being given reinforcement technique group counseling services was 72.17, and after being given the service was 92.83. Based on the results of the analysis of the paired t-test, the value of count = 6.923 at degrees of freedom (df) 5 with p-value = 0.001<0.05. This shows that Ha is accepted, and Ho is rejected. So it can be concluded that the reinforcement technique group counseling service is effective in increasing the learning motivation of class IX A students of SMP Negeri 14 Yogyakarta in the 2021/2022 academic year
